Will a 10 inch Commercial Ektar work on 4x10 with movements?

Thanks!

Dunno, but I've got a Wollensak Apo Raptar 10 1/4" which covers 8x10, so your chances are ... pretty good.

coverage should be 317mm for this lens

Yes. Mine worked just fine on 6x10 and was one of my favorite lenses for that format. 4x10 should be no problem.

Thanks, these are just the answers I was hoping for. I'm building a 4x10 camera and already have the 10" Ektar which I've used on 5x7 where it's a beautiful lens. I've read somewhere that it just covers 8x10 and had my fingers crossed that it was true.

In an old publication, Kodak lists this as a 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 lens. The diagonal of 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 is 272 mm. The diagonal of 4 x 10 is 274 mm. Seems about right.

I didn't realize it was a 6 1/2x8 1/1 lens, I had assumed it was designed for 5x7. This is better!

I used it on straight 8x10 and it probably vignetted a bit but it wasn't objectionable, but I wasn't critical or doing architecture with it.

I used one on 8x10 for quite a while with no problems. Craig

Should work almost identical on an 8X10 to what the venerable 127mm Ektar did for thousands of press cameras on 4X5.

I own a 10" CE and it does just barely cover 8x10. I have therefore designated it as my prime lens for a Korona 5x7 that I use for backpacking. Should be fine for 4x10.

Thanks everyone, it sounds like it Ektar should do what I need. Now I just have to find the time to finish the camera.....
