A really excellent loupe: The eyepiece from a Polaroid folding SLR-type camera that I plundered for its first surface mirror. I cut a hole in the end of a plastic film can to go into the groove around the lens. The film can is a perfect length for focus, plus the lens has a focusing helicoid. It is multi-element, coated, excellent quality and might have been designed for this purpose. Small and light.
