Received this from John Sexton which may be of interest to Californians:

"I wanted to give you a brief update on two events coming up in the near future.

The first is my lecture Ansel Adams: An Inspiration, which I will be presenting at Adobe headquarters in San Jose, California on Thursday, June 24 at 4:00 PM. The lecture is part of the Adobe Distinguished Lecture Series. It is open to the public and admission is free.

On Saturday, July 10 there will be an opening reception for my exhibition John Sexton: A Photographer’s Journey and I will be presenting a lecture for the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California. The exhibition will be on display from July 3 through August 27.

My lecture will be from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday July 10 at the Carmel Women’s Club, directly across the street from the Center for Photographic Art gallery in Carmel. The reception will be from 4:00-6:00 PM and will include a book signing as well. Both events are free and open to the public."

Great lecture. John shaw a number of comparisons between straight and final prints. There are of course more subtle details, but much of the manipulations did by Adams seem to have been to darken considerably the sky and add contrast to the foreground.

Personally I found it boring because it was all about Ansel and everything he said I already knew. Here's a couple of snaps of John at the lecturn:
