hi i looked in the archives for "classic lenes" and wasn't really able to find what i was looking for and was hoping that someone might know at least where i might look for my answers.

i have 90mm raptar in a us army signal corps (rapax) shutter, and there is a "yellow dot" by the rim. for 12 years i have wanted to know, what the yellow dot signify? chromatic? apo-chromatic?

thanks!

Hello,

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question. However, I would suggest posting this question on the Graflex website too. Many Graflex owners have Wollensak lenses, along with military cameras and I think your question could be answered. The website address is as follows:

www.graflex.org

Go to the "Help" section. You will have to register on the website, but this is a simple task. Good luck!

Best regards,

J. P. Mose

incase you folks ever run across one of these "yellow dot" or "violet dot" lenses, it means they were some of the few higher quality coated lenses that wollensak put out as raptars in that time period.

best of luck ..
