For some reason of not thinking I put the 26th and the 24th in the body of the post.

Darren,
I would not be entering but am game for some shooting along the Brazos or the lake earlier in the morning. Perhaps some older buildings in town after lunch?

No need to enter at all. I just wanted to let people know about the show since I think there might be one or two who might be interested in it.
Lets look at meeting on the Granbury square about 9:30-10 am. That way folks can take their time getting up and getting to Granbury. I'll be out along 377 at dawn and get to Granbury a little later in the morning. The square gets crowded in the afternoon, so I think it would be better in the morning. We can photograph until 11 and then go have lunch at Babes Fried Chicken. For those not familiar with Babes -how can you live in north Texas and not eaten there, I know not :-) it is a world class fried chicken place. They have other stuff but the fried chicken is what they are best known for and it is fantastic.

Just a reminder that THIS Saturday is a meetup in Granbury, Texas. For those in the north Texas area here is your chance to meet up, photograph, and have some great fried chicken.
We will be in the town square about 9:30 am.
How exciting will this be? Well a couple of guys showed up last weekend, that's how fired up they were! :-)
Hope to see folks there!

Mike and I will be there (yea we were the ones, but I can blame Mike, he was driving<G>).
Probably after 10am before we arrive, we're working on a project south of town 40-50 miles.
BTW, men the "chik'in" is real good.

Looks like some clouds and possibly isolated T-storms for Saturday. Sounds like a great morning for photography!
I'll have 4 or 5 folks with me and I know there are at least 3-4 others who will meeet us in Granbury.
See everyone on the square!

We had a nice turnout this morning. About six folks from here on the LF page and about 10 folks in my local Fort Worth club made it out in the Texas summer heat. Had a few nice clouds early and we made a few images. It was only a short while before the few clouds vanished and then lots of sun! After turning in some art show images we walked the square in Granbury. I went to snapshots and we watched JB with his 8x10. Then off to the cool environs of Babes for some iced tea and fried chicken.
We had some fun!
Here are a few:
Early light. There was a lunar eclipse this morning and we got here just in time to see the moon go into the clouds. We missed the shot. Bummer. :-(

We drove farther down the road and I stopped to get this field

While JB was on the sidewalk, I walked up a fire escape to get it at eye level as a snapshot.

Looks like a good day shooting! Sorry I couldn't make it, but glad to see you didn't have any photographers accidentally wander into your photos ...

Great to see everyone and getting to talk shop. . . shame it wasn't 60-70 degrees cooler!!!! Sorry the clouds did not pan out. . . a little snow on the ground would have been nice also!!
Although we did not take the camera out in Granbury proper, we did take a few hours to shoot the surrounding areas....

Glad you guys found the old Outlaw gas station. I have not eaten at the Line Camp but it sounds good.
BTW- the Photography Show is now hanging at the Shanley House which is on Travis a couple of blocks NW of downtown square (next to library).

This is July 16th.
The show took place last month.
Did you win anything?

Did you win anything?
As a matter of fact I did. One of my images took second place. There were about 150 entries and some very good work, I got lucky. My large format image of Mesa Arch in Canyonlands got nothing and the image I got of some horses in west Texas with my little digital point and shoot won second.
The show will be up at the Shanley House Gallery in Granbury through the end of the month if anyone want to see dome good work. Just be aware the gallery is not always open on regular hours so best to call ahead.

Perfect example of how little importance there is in the equipment. . . It is all about the image. . .

Could not agree more!
I actually was photographing rocks with mountains in the background when the horses wandered into the scene. Since I could not work the quickly changing conditions (ie the horses moving) fast enough with the tripod and camera, I left that and went to the p+s. Over 5 minutes I took a couple of dozen images (all handheld) but had three where everything just seemed to all align right. Sometimes luck plays a part and having the right tool to take advantage of it was smart planning I guess. So it was not my "best" camera but it was the best way to get the moment and the image.
