Hi, all -

With my recent step up from 5x7 to 8x10, I was (conservatively said) thrilled when I read over and over that the Schneider 121/8 Super Angulon will, in fact, cover. Now, I already own this lens, and while I'd like to just throw it on the camera and see what things look like (camera's got no bellows yet, so while I can see the coverage, I can't rightly compose), I'd like to solicit example images from those of you using this lens on 8x10, or (possibly more importantly) 4x10.

Anyone have any to share?

Thanks,
Scott

I don't have one that wide, but I have a Fujinon SW 125/8 coming in the mail. Because it has a smaller circle than the competition, I am planning on cropping to 6x9cm proportions. So, I'm interested in any images also.

I did find some examples of 120mm on 8x10 in this thread when I was searching earlier:

I bought a new 121 in the eatly 70's and used it until I dropped it on concrete and broke two elements and destroyed the shutter. Yes it just covers 8x10 when stopped down. I replaced it with a 120 Nikkor that I like very much and wound up getting the lens repaired by Schneider. A friend bought it for what I had in the repaies and now uses it with excellent results. After Schneider fixed it it looked and performed like new. I was told by a Schneider rep thatthe 120 came about when multicoatings came in. He tole me that the old glass in the 121 didn't work well with the new coatings and required reformulating with newer glass. He also said the older 121 was a sharper lens than the 120 but I can't confirm that. I imagine it would be hard to tell the difference between the two and even the Nikkor.

Oh yes you asked about samples. I do have negs but nothing scanned at the moment. I rarely used the 121 on 8x10 as it was so wide that there was little application for my type of photography.

I passed on the Super Angulon and went for a Nikon 120SW but if it's the sort of view it gives you on 10X8 you are after?

Post in image sharing (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showpost.php?p=580346&postcount=852) also from that lens

Well, thanks for the input, guys. I'm very enthused to use this lens now, both on 8x10 and 4x10.

Clive, those are great images!

Much of my Utah Bigfoot project is shot with a Schneider 120 f/8 on a Canham 4x10.

Utah Bigfoot (http://www.utahbigfoot.blogspot.com/)

When you see vignetting it is the result of one of three things:

1. My filter holder sometimes slips and I'm not very careful about triple-checking it before making the exposure.

2. I gave the camera a little too much front rise.

3. A combination of 1&2.

Here's one that turned out pretty good.
