The Speed Graphic appeared in my hands on Thursday, upon returning from travel. Friday evening was overhauling the focal plane shutter (with less-than-perfect results) as well as the camera body. Saturday evening was overhauling the Graphex shutter, with excellent results. Sunday was mounting the 8-1/2" Paragon on a Graflex board. Today was checking the rangefinder (perfect) and adjusting the focus scale and infinity stops. And this afternoon was burning the remainder of a pack of Fujiroid FP100C45.
Fujiroid is NARROW, and the flare associated with these old tessar designs doesn't solve that problem, heh. But everything behaved exactly as it was supposed to.
The candid of the Redhead was made with the 8-1/2" Ilex Paragon in a very battered old Universal No. 4, for 2 seconds at f/5.6. Ground-glass focused, of course (though if anyone has a Graflex top rangefinder cam for an 8-1/2" lens, I'm all ears). About 1/2 stop overexposed.
The second photo was made using the 127mm Optar that came with the camera. Rangefinder focused on the corner knot of the blanket over the back of the chair, and checked on the ground glass (perfect). 3 seconds at f/22, with a touch of shift. Too much contrast in this scene for Fujiroid.
Fujiroid prints scanned on an Epson 750, plus some basic adjustments.
Next for this camera is mounting a 90mm Optar WA, and a 65/8 Super Angulon that are sitting unused at the moment.
