Anybody know anything about a Shen Hao XPO 4x5 camera? It's listed on Badger's website but has no photo. Price is $795, which is the highest priced 4x5 they make ... interesting.

Why don't you ask Jeff at Badger directly? He's kind enough to tell you.

Its probably that one that has been mentioned on here recently, set up to take sinar boards and shutters.

Could you please provide a link to that thread ?

I forgot about this. Once you use a Sinar Shutter, it's hard to go back. The only way to improve it, is to mount your lenses on Sinar DB lens boards - which I'm currently doing.

With such an arrangement, you can control the camera entirely from the rear. No need to cock the shutter, check the shutter through the ground glass either: a small red button appears when the shutter is open. You can see it from the rear of the camera. The cable release functions just like a depth-of-field preview button on an SLR.

We can function without these gadgets, but they do make life easier ! The proof of the pudding, is that you miss them when you have to work without them.

Let me know if you have any questions.

BTW, I don't know if this is the one Jeff's got, but Mr Zhang was talking about selling this model soon.

Brian,

I think that I can confirm that this is the Sinar version. It has the same twin lensboard adaptor as my custom camera - one for the Sinar size, and an inner one for Linhof boards.

It also has bellow release tabs behind the front standard, allowing both Sinar bellows and Sinar Shutter to be attached.

For what it's worth, perhaps think about getting a shutter soon if you are considering this camera; they might get snapped up if people discover a field camera that accepts them!!

There is a photo now and it looks to take Sinar boards.

Send me photo requests if you want details of specifics on this camera.

While I can't say that these are the same as the one that I had built, I can't imagine wholesale changes to design.
