View Full Version : Hi from South London
Hi All, I thought I had better say hello.
It has been 25 years since I used a LF camera (at collage) but I sort of swapped an EOS lens for a Sinar F, something to do with wanting a challange. I have shot a roll of 6x9, I bought the RFH because my enlarger will do 6x9 max, I remembered the darkslide and when to use it:) but and here is the BIG but, I have just got some 4x5 DDSs.
Hum time to go shopping for a new enlarger.
I expect that I will be doing more looking than posting, so till the next time...........

Welcome aboard, Keith.
You might find value in searching the archives here for references to LF camera supplies/stores in London. If you've got the coin, Camulet is an option for most supplies. Robert White is also a great place for new/expensive gear.
Also, you might want to look at www.apug.org as a good "sister" site to this one.
Finally, you've got a great organisation over there for Brit large format users: http://www.lf-photo.org.uk
All the best with your endeavours!
Hey I'm only down the road in Swindon (hour away)... lf-photo seems ok but i tried to sign up and never got the activation email, so i stay here

Hi Keith,
4x5 contact prints are quite nice and you could always scan them. Not the ideal but budget LF is always a compromise.
One bit of shopping advice based on experience, stay away from Croydon.
Best wishes,
Pete.

Greetings from someone who is still surviving in SW17...
... and remembers trolley buses and trams...
second that on Croydon (but it is good for a laugh!)
nn :)
www.londontramways.net for some of my dads tram photographs in SW17 and beyond....
Thank you all for the welcome.
Many moons ago I worked for Leeds Photovisual in the Brunswick Centre so I know some of the staff at Calumet, Drummond St very well. As for the Croyden advice, I have known Alex for many years, always fun to visit............
For paper, film and chemistry I usually call into Silver Print on my way back to London Bridge Station.
Not been 'minted' I will have to keep an eye on the 'Bay' for an enlarger, I am looking forward to scanning a 4x5 negative on my Epson V700, I was quite impressed with the 6x9 scans.
Was down in Peckham today... didn't realise how many arty types were in the area. Delboy AND artists? Heaven!
Hi Ash, you are right the Peckham / East Dulwich / Forest Hill area seems to attract musicans and artsie people. We do have Camberwell Art School (as was) and Goldsmiths on the door step, though I do not think Peckham will ever be the new Hoxton, who knows?

Ash, I don't know why that happened. You never wrote to us to mention the problem. Please try again. I am responsible for approving people but we have had problems with spammers trying to sign up, so you might have gotten lost in that problem.
See you over there.

Yea, they do take forever to activate your profile. I sent them an email asking about the status of my profile, and within 48 hours after sending the email I was able to log in, so don't give up on them.
Welcome to the LF forum.

Actually, provided you don't apply with a silly name that triggers alarm bells, I usually approve new users within an hour or so of them applying.
We do get spam applications and occasionally we have been known to leave an application on hold to see if they were genuine or not. Using your real name, or at least a sensible name without numbers in it is more likely to get straight through.
Ash, I still haven't seen your application. Don't forget that some emails can get lost if your spam filter blocks our email address.
