I went up to Kennesaw Mountain today and shot some of the cannons and such.

I'm still working on this whole spot metering thing, so some of my shots aren't ideal, but every now and again one works out just so. This is one of those:

This one I didn't place so well:

And this one, I dunno what happened to the sky. I'm guessing that's an uneven development problem. I'm running these in a jobo 2521 tank on an ilford roller base, and all three were run together. I wonder if maybe this sheet wasn't loaded properly.

In the background of that shot you can see McCollum airfield, which is the airport where I keep my airplane.

I have six sheets of EPP from the trip which are drying now, and I'll get those scanned and posted shortly. Also there's three sheets of velvia 100F, but at least two of those were in a holder that I confused for TXP, and so they'll be underexposed by 1.6 stops.

Hello,,, I can tell by the loop t loop patern that your roller base is out of level..
Nice shots!

good catch! The base is level(ish), but since I'm running a jobo tank on it, and the jobo has the big red collar on it, it sits up about 10-15 degrees. I guess I need to make a matching collar for the back to level it.

I used to run my 4x5 in a cibachrome drum, and that gave me fairly good results, but there's always the risk of them sliding on top of each other and only the topmost sheet develops. I could do 2 films at a time with reasonable success, and 4 max, but 4 was very risky and would almost always ruin at least one.

I've been to Kennesaw Mountain quite often, used to work across the street from the park on Kennesaw Avenue. It's not easy getting a LF shot from those angles, takes a lotta depth of field.
This one is at Fort Pulaski, Tybee Island, Ga.

Very cool. I like the crunchy grain on this, it works well with the subject.

I guess I just seen too much English Ivy in my own yard, I don't get it.

A rail mounted gun in Newport News, VA. It was shot on 4x5 with a 150mm Nikkor; I strengthened the perspective with some back swing.

From Yorktown, VA. As with the previous image I added a touch of back swing to strengthen the perspective. Apologies for the dirt: I posted this one on flickr before spotting it.

I just remembered this old thread, and suppose my Civil war cannon shots would be better here than in landscape. This is from a federal line at Malvern Hill in VA, taken with a wide angle lens and plenty of front tilt. I tried to stand a skosh higher to drop the cannon muzzle below that dark line in the grass, but I just couldn't get myself or the tripod up there, and couldn't shift left without mucking up my composition. Next time I should bring a drum riser along. Or grow.

This one is a different angle from the same federal line; I moved it here from the landscape thread.

This time I swung the back slightly for exaggerated perspective and then the front to focus on the row of cannons.
