Hello from Boston, soon to be Santa Fe

Hi LFPF,

I have some experience shooting with a 4x5 camera, but I joined up because of my burgeoning interest in 8x10 wet plate collodion.

I'll be moving from Boston to Santa Fe in the summer, and once I'm settled I'm going to begin the hopefully-not-too-expensive transition to shooting wet plate!

I'm looking forward to meeting and talking with anyone who's into 19th century processes, and I'm glad there's a place on the 'tubes for LF photographers!

Welcome to group therepy! :) We have several folks here who are into wet-plate and should be able to offer help and advise.

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you're hopeful that 8x10 wet plate isn't too expensive--one should always be hopeful. :) I've lost that hope, but am happily doing wet plate in new DC area-based studio. The good news is once you start doing wet plate, just like the junkie--you'll find the money for your fix.

Thanks for the welcome. I've got enough money saved up to buy a camera set up and build a portable darkroom, but I'm waiting to move before I start really digging in.

Until then, reading about it and talking about it will have to suffice!

BarryS, what format/size/type are you doing?
