Probably individual sample variation and external factors (how solid the camera mount, how perfect a film plane) play a larger role than whether it was made by Rodenstock or Symmar or Fuji.

But the latest Rodenstock Sironar-S or Schneider APO-Symmar L will be the sharpest yet made, at least outside military options.

210mm for what coverage/image circle/format? The lenses in this comparison range from IC 210-335. Only the Docter Optic Germinar W with an IC of 335 would just cover 8x10. Is there any data for 210mm lenses with larger coverage? For instance: Super-Symmar XL ic 500, Super-Angulon ic 500, Super-Symmar HM ic 356, APO-Sironar W ic 352, APO-Sironar S ic 316, Fujinon CM-W ic 309, APO-Symmar ic 305. source: Specs for new large format lenses Compiled by Michael K. Isn’t there a 210mm Computar/Kowa with ULF coverage and also a Dagor?

I had a 210mm Super-Symmar XL, but it looked like I was going to have to buy a trailer for my 7x17 baby jogger to carry it and its suitcase around on my OH & Erie Canal towpath ventures.

The 3 sharpest 210 mm lenses for 4x5 are:
Sironar S/APO Symmar my APO Symmar was for a long time my reference lens in sharpness, till a got a APO Sironar S 240 mm which holds the sharpness better to the edges even in 8x10!

The 210 Sironar-N will hold its sharpness to the edges (and slightly beyond) 8x10 as well.
