Good morning:
I bought a Technika V, a 90mm lens and 90mm cam, but the cam does not go in since the mouth part is too thick. What are my choices? I read from the linhof webesite the following: "For coupling of subsequently purchased lenses, it is necessary to return the Master Technika to Linhof or to a Linhof service center. Lenses from 72 to 400mm focal length can be range-finder coupled. Each rangefinder-coupled lens is supplied with a separate carefully matched
coupling cam. On each coupling cam, both lens serial number and focal length,
are engraved." Do I need to send mine? Thanks.
Generally, you are suppose to have a cam cut for the lens. That is the official line. Although, I have used separately bought lens-cams, you have to calibrate them for each other, which, if done incorrectly it can deface the bed track.
How does the cam you bought looks like? it should be grooved line a comb, if it is for V of MT

Thank you so much for the info. I am new to the format, so quite ignorant. The cam does have groovs like a comb. I have a 150mm lens that came with the coupled cam, with the same serial number on both the 150mm lens and the 150mm cam. Both work with great accuracy on my Technika V through rangefinder. I called the Linhof people, they said it will cost about $290 to have them cut it for me. So I used the 150 mm cam as a model and had it cut by a friend on a machine accordong to the shape of the mouth of the 150mm cam. Now the 90 cam fits nicely into the bed just like the 150mm cam. Howerver, I cannot try the lens yes since I still need a lensboard. I hope it will work after I get a lensborad.
Thank you again.:) :)

Linhof plots the performance of the lens at various focus points and then transfers that curve to a blank 90mm cam and then grinds the cam to match that curve. Both a blank cam and a cut cam will fit the camera.
The price of "camming" includes the cam, cutting the cam, the Infinity stops, installing the infinity stops and the focusing scale and its installation.
The Master Technika or the V doe not have to be returned to Linhof for camming. The III and the IV do have to be. On the V and later they only need the lens that has to be cammed. But then you have to properly install the infinity stops and the focusing scale. So it is usually more convenient to send the V or Master since they willinstall the add-ons and make sure they are correct, fot the same price as just cutting the cam.
In all cases the cost of the board is extra and there may be a charge for mounting the lens. Only a lens mounted on the correct board can be cammed.

When you say "performance of the lens" do you mean distance to lens board at different focus distances? Or is there some other sort of performance involved?

They graph the focusing points at various distances for a specific lens, by serial number since the marked focal length on any lens is not the actual focal length, and then transfer the plot to the cam and then cut the cam.
