View Full Version : Is Ilford doing the Special Order film run this year?

I'm looking for 5x12 film and not finding any other than x-ray. Is Ilford doing there special order run again this year. I don't think I have seen it announced. I have never ordered any through it before and am not sure how this works.

Simon Galley did announce a special film cut for this year over on APUG. When it will happen still has to be sorted out.

The way it has worked in prior years is that Ilford identifies a limited number of participating retailers and an order period, and issues a list of available formats. Orders are accepted by the participating dealers, and after the order period closes, Ilford aggregates all the orders and produces the film. There's typically a delay of a couple of months between the close of the order period and delivery of the film to the end user by the dealers.

If you can't find any 5x12 remaining at any of the participating dealers from last year, you might also look for 10x12 film and cut that in half.

Be sure to search eBay as well - occasionally there is a seller offering surplus stock from a recent Ilford run.

Colin and Oren, Thank you for the information. I'll keep an eye out for announcements. I was just afraid I had missed a chance to participate this year. The 5x12 is new to me so I have never had to try to find film for it before.

Dan, keep an eye on APUG - that's where the primary announcement is made. One of us will pick up on it and put a link here too when it comes up, but that's where Simon Galley of Harman Technology hangs out - they're a sponsor over there.
