I just received my latest Fuji price list today and they are now offering instant B&W film in the 4x5 format ISO 100!

It labeled FP-100B (10) PK

Someone must have been importing it directly from Japan since it has never been in my Professional film Dealer Price List before?!

Are you sure it's 5x4 on that list? It's been around a while, yes.

FP100 is the smaller size, it needs '45' on the end to be full frame for use in a 550/45 holder.

As Ash says, FP100B is the quarter-plate size, FP100B45 is the 4x5 size. B&H and other vendors in the US have had these for a good while, though at the moment B&H is out of stock on both.

Sorry I got a little enthusiastic - the correct label is FP-100B 4x5 (10) PK. My price list denotes it as a new product. Other dealers must have been using a third party unless they have a "special" relationship with Fuji.

Ed, Fuji offer it direct off their Fujilab film shop (UK based) for a long while now. Maybe your dealer has only just secured distribution, but I get my film from Fuji - it can take a bit longer to ship but you're guaranteed the latest batch.

Just looked at this film on B&H. Do I really need a $205 holder for this film?????

Geez.

What is the price on the new listing? As far as I know it was about $25-30 a pack before--much more expensive than the slightly smaller version.

From what I've read a used Polaroid 550 holder will do the same thing.

I know some of this is repetitive, but...
Been away from LF for awhile. Just got back and used the last of my Polaroid T55 (expired 2000). I understand that my 545 holder is a doorstop (since I contacted the impossible project people - they said there's no intention to bring back T55), but since the Fuji B+W instant seems to be on a long back-order it seems real risky to shell out the cash for the PA-45 holder. I'm not experienced enough to do w/o the exposure check that instant provides. How certain is it that Fuji will fill their backorders?

Here you go:

They also have 500 speed 4x5 B&W instant film as well. Only 4199 yen!

Thanks letchhausen,

I know it's available in Japan - Bic Camera have it too, but 4,199yen is $46... (plus shipping). It was always avail from B&H, Adorama, etc, in the past.

I was just wondering why it's been out of stock for almost a year...

Clark,

I know it's not the same, but if all you want is exposure/composition/focus checking, just shoot the colour stuff. It's actually 2/3 the price of the B&W...

Also the Fuji B&W is more like 160ASA in my experience, while the colour is spot on 100, so in some ways better for exposure testing.

When shooting the B&W Fujiroid I meter @160, then just shut down 1 stop for Tri-x - spot on every time.

Because sales volumes are too low to justify distribution I suppose… and often dealers keep an "out of stock" notice to let people know they don't have it (and to avoid pesky emails)
