In an effort to consolidate the large amount of information spread over a number of web sites and forums, www.pyrocat-hd.com (http://www.pyrocat-hd.com) has been created, with the assistance of Sandy King.

It contains links to articles, formulas, discussion, etc. - on this site and others - to make it easier for people to find up-to-date information.

The site isn't finished:

If you are aware of an interesting discussion of Pyrocat not mentioned on the site, please send a link to the site administrator, using the contact link at the bottom of the home page (http://www.pyrocat-hd.com).

If you use one of the Pyrocat formulas, and would like to share a link to some of your work, please send a link to the site administrator, using the contact link at the bottom of the home page (http://www.pyrocat-hd.com).

I will be working on a FAQ for the site. If you have any specific questions that you feel should be addressed in the FAQ please send your comments to me by pm.

Thanks guys. I've standardized on Pyrocat-HD at this point and a central point of knowledge is a great idea. Searching for baseline times and temps is a lesson in futility (ie wild swings) and the massive dev chart is sorely lacking.

Friendly reminder: Don't be a stubborn fool... Join the millions !

If you use one of the Pyrocat formulas, please send us a link to your site (http://www.pyrocat-hd.com/html/photographers.html).

And remember: You can't play if you don't win !

Thanks!

I've almost gotten my darkroom going again after moving last summer. I've been thinking of re-visiting Pyrocat and this will help.

If you have some photos you would like to share on the site, you can email them to the site admin - or email a link to them, if they are already on the web somewhere else.

And what a nice gallery it turns out to be. Caught it yesterday and was pleased to see some negative scans of photographs I have only seen as digital photos of carbon prints in the yahoo carbon forum gallery. Thanks

David

PS When is the pyrocat FAQ due?

PS When is the pyrocat FAQ due?

It will be a few weeks until I can get it done. I am just finishing up an essay for an exhibition in Bilbao this summer and am about to go to Spain for a few weeks. I will try to work on the FAQ while traveling but my computer resources and internet access may limit what I can get done.

Bugger that. Life is too short to be working on holiday. The FAQ can wait.

New article: Pyrocat Preservation (http://www.pyrocat-hd.com/html/preservation.html)

Sandy has pointed out that for maximum shelf-life, glass bottles are best. They can be very affordable too.

Here's how to pump the air out - and for the same low low price - how to remove the wine stain from used wine bottles.
