How do you clean the bottom of the glass? I have orange peel type water markings on bottom!

Big Fish, Unplug and remove the top lid from the scanner, and you will see some black round plugs covering some screws around the black edges all around the top of the lower scanner platen. They need to be pry'd out with a jewelers screwdriver, then you can remove the screws, and lift the top off. IT comes off really easy, and then you can clean the underside.... Replace everything back, and you are set to go again. One thing I found.... Don't leave the scanner on for extended times, it's the outgassing of the plastics as they heat up that cause the wrippled marks underneath!!!

Aw, c'mon, doesn't it say in the Epson manual that when the glass gets dirty you are supposed to chuck it and buy a new one?

Follow up question: What do you use to clean the glass? Somewhere, maybe here, I remember reading that Windex and/or ammonia were not good for scanner glass. What cleaning products are good for scanner glass?

I don't know if you can get it where you live but here in Canada we can buy a product from Home Depot made by Zep. Their glass cleaner is the best I have ever used. No residue left at all and gets things VERY clean.

Thanks! I have numerous Home Depot's in my neighborhood. I'll look for it.

Pure methanol is best for this. It is the same as any brand overpriced sensor cleaner. It is very toxic though. Be careful as it can be absorbed by the skin.
