I am going to be ordering an Arca-Swiss 69 FC metric when finances allow and can 't decide whether to include the micrometric Orbix feature. I am looking for fe edback from those of you who have experience with it.

I will be using this camera primarily for landscape work. I am used to axial ti lts which the Orbix feature allows. Does it add much weight to the camera? Hav e you found it considerably easier to use that the base tilts standard with the A-S? Any problems with it that you have encountered?

Hi Mark-

I'd say yes, if for no other reason than you can set tilt with one hand which is dificult without the micrometric orbix.

Mark,

I have an Arca Swiss F-Line Micrometric. First let me tell you it is a very convenient feature.

I ordered mine with a 6x9 front and a 6x9 rear. I also have a 4x5 rear conversion that slips on with it's w/a bellows in a matter of 10 seconds.

But, to answer your question, the M.M. Orbix is great. It has made focusing when tilting the front standard a breeze. The gearing is as smooth as the rest of the metric controls. A real pleasure to use.

I am leaving for a 10 day shoot along Highway 50 in Nevada in mid- May. I think this may be the only camera I take. BTW, I also have the 6x9 binocular reflex viewer, a very sweet puppy.

The Orbix is not something which you can just buy and bolt on. If you buy the camera without it, you must later send the camera to Europe to be retrofitted..Evan Clarke

Sorry, I meant CAN'T bolt on. Orbix must be professionally installed..EC
