What would the setting be on a universal heliar, that would equate with a non-universal version?
Thanks, John

Thanks for the reply. From ground glassing I like 1-1.5 and up to between 5.6 and 8.
I was wondering if the non universal, was the same as 0 on my universal.
Thanks,
John
It probably is not entirely the same, unless you own a rather early Heliar - after WWI, the classic Heliar design was superseded by the slightly superior Dynar type (essentially a Heliar with flipped doublets). The Universal was the only Heliar branded lens of original Heliar type that staid on (presumably as the Dynar did not share that soft-focus trick).
