I have just finished reading Barry Thornton's book EDGE OF DARKNESS, he seems real fond of his two bath DiXactol. I was wondering if anyone who has tried it what they thought of it, and some of the pros and cons . I am planning to try it, just woundering. Thanks Richard

It pretty much works like he describes it in the book. I gives full film speed and restrains the highlights nicely. I did have some problems with edge marks at first but cured them by agitating the devloping tank like I was making a martini (old trick). I've only used the one-bath method. It works well with HP-5 and Fuji Acros.

You can still get the real DiXactol from Peter Hogan in the UK.

Barry Thornton has a formula for a 2-Bath pyro developer here:

Not sure if it is DiXactol... but I'll bet it is.
