If you use a Sinar camera, mount the lens in a Sinar board and use a Sinar copal shutter. I use this with my Apo Ronar 600mm/9, and works flauless. Hope it helps.

Since it's not a telephoto design, it's straight-up 800mm (or 31 1/2 inches) focused at infinity. as you focus closer you need more bellows. I used to have a 610mm Nikkor. To shoot a face on 8x10 took about 36 inches (914mm) so your next purchase may be extra bellows and and extension rails.

I didnīt see the original date of the post!. I found it while digging in search of info about Apo Ronars longer than 600mm. Bob, the post is from 7 Feb 2010. Dec 2011 is my joining date to this forum. Anyway I very surprised the original post didnīt get a reply in almost 3 years!

No. Although I am 147 going on 148 years of age, I can still count. 6 Feb 2010 to 5 Aug 2012 makes 2 years 5 months 29 days.

Mea Culpa, I was looking at a join date not a post date.

No biggie. I lied about my age.

The Sinar Auto shutter may not eat the 800mm Ronar barrel.

I realize this is a zombie thread, but I have in hand a sort of solution, in the form of (1) a Compound #5 shutter and (2) an SKGrimes adapter that holds it in front of a 900/10 Apo Saphir. I also have the 900/10 Apo Saphir. An Ilex #5 would do as well and would probably be easier to find.

No, it won't, but that is not a problem if use f32 and moderate tilts. Reinhart Wolf used an Apo Ronar 1000/16 (much biger than the 800) with a Sinar Copal shooter and got great results.

You've inspired me to go out with the 610mm APO Nikkor again. I'll try it with a 5x7 back.

...And you'll be very pleased with this combo. lately I find myself using more and more 13x18 (while Velvia frozen stock lasts) and I often use the Apo Ronar 600.
