JBL brass lens - Anyone know?

Here's an old petzval with an unusual logo I can't find info on. Anyone know? J.B.L should be easy to place...but I can't.

I couldn't either! A similar has just been on the e**y and I have seen another were the logo was described as a "sunburst". Seems like a good trademark (TM - so english speaking market) for a magic lantern maker. Havn't done a search in that area though.

JBL Lenses are mentioned in Anthony's Photographic Bulletin as being for sale by AD Fisk in New York - 1886. I think just a small re-seller of lenses around that period.
