Hi!

Did someone know what cap size I need for the rear element of a Schneider Symmar-S 210mm f/5.6 lens? Or at least the size of the rear thread?

It is advisable to mount a protection filter on the rear element?

What's the best (or the usual) method to protect the rear element?

Thanks a lot for further answers. :)

It's best not to use any filter on the rear just cap it. I don't know the cap size but can't you measure it? B&H has caps.

The Kaiser slip on caps are sized based on the lens outer diameter. You can just measure your lens and you will know the size needed.

The usual cap for rear element is a slip-on, right?

For the moment I don't have a caliper, that's why I asked here.

Thanks for the answers!

Symmar-S lenses have no rear (filter) thread. But as you can see here (http://www.schneider-kreuznach.com/archiv/pdf/symmar_s_72.pdf) you need a 57mm lens cap.

They may only be $5 but the cheapest postage to the UK is $46 ....Now you tell me how that can be justified?

Cheers Dave

That's a complete rip-off. A flat envelope couldn't cost more than $3US including the envelope.
