When did they make the switch? Was is 2002? I was reading the new catalog and found out that the new L lens doesn't have all the focal length that was offered by Apo Syammar like 135mm, 360mm, So Schneider won't make these any more?

The Apo-Symmar L lenses were introduced at the 2002 photokina, replacing the Apo-Symmar, and yes, the 135 and 360mm were no longer part of the lineup.

I'm looking at 300mm Symmar f5.6 - big lens with large filter thread. Apart from image coverage, the optical prescription is different or not between L and not L?

All 4 generations of the postwar "Symmar" - the plain Symmar, the Symmar-S, the Apo-Symmar, and the Apo-Symmar L were/are 6/4 Plasmat type lenses. The plain Symmar was also convertible, the later ones are (officially) not, in favor of a better correction of the full lens.
