Is this film different than Tri X 400 in application to the zone system, in terms of eposure and development times?

It is different. But you have to establish your own exposure and development regimen, depending on your own printing requirements. I personally expose TM400
actually at ASA400 for "normal" development. This is because it is a relatively
straight-line film, so you get good separation in the shadows. With films with more
of a toe, I generally prefer a lower ASA to push the exposure higher on the curve,
if the scene has a high contrast. But you'll need to experiment to pick a favorite.

I understand the need for my own development time. I don't understand if there is less need for varying standard exposure and normal development, compared to Tri X 400, because TMax has more lattitude?
