Are these lenses the same?

Does the red stripe indicate a difference of the other does not have it (may be labeled Sinar, too).

All Apo Sironar S lenses have a red stripe. All Apo Sironar N lenses had a silver stripe. All Apo Sironar W lenses had a gold/yellow stripe.

Sinaron S = (Apo)-Sironar-N.
Sinaron SE = Apo-Sironar-S.

No stripe on a Sinaron probably just means it's earlier production, from the Sironar-N era rather than the Apo-Sironar-N era. Most definitive approach to dating is via serial number.

Thanks. Some were made for and labeled for the Sinar brand, and the spelling changed slightly, just to further confuse me. If it's a SINAR-s then is it a SIRONAR-S?

Yes, the naming is confusing. There is no "Sinar S".

The Rodenstock-made lenses marketed by Sinar are labeled "Sinaron".

Sinaron S = Apo-Sironar-N, NOT Apo-Sironar-S. Look at the labeling on the lens - the Sinaron S lenses say 72 degrees, confirming that they are Rodenstock "N" types. The Sinaron SE lenses, which are Rodenstock "S" types, say 75 degrees.

It's crazy-making. :) It's understandable that Sinar wanted to incorporate their brand name, but it would have been so much easier if they'd picked something entirely different. Or at least shared the N/S/W classification established by Rodenstock.
