The first Polaroid-backs where made from Polaroid-RF-bodies, series 80 for 2 1/2 x 3 1/4" pictures and series 95 for 3 1/4 x 4 1/4". For this bodies adapters where made by the camera makers for their cameras. E. g. Linhof made Polaroid RF-backs for the Technika 4x5" and also for the Baby-Technika 2 1/2 x 3 1/4". Other companies like Harrison sold Polaroid-backs for Horseman Press, Century, Pacemaker Crown, all with Graflock back. The Polaroid RF-back was also used for many special cameras like for photomicrography, oscilloscope-cameras etc.

Because the focal-plane with a Polaroird-RF-back is an inch or so behind the normal focal-plane with normal film-holders, also a special ground-glass-adapter was necessary.

Later Polaroid sold backs for pack-films, but the adapter-plate was always made by the camera-factory. E. g. Hasselblad, Linhof etc.
