I have been looking for one of these used but they seem hard to find. Not something I would use much but wonder about dabbling in 5x7. Any leads?

I have never seen a used 5x7 bail back for sale. You might try Richard Ritter. He could probably make what you are looking for. Jon

How much is a nice metal Burke & James worth to you? But it may be a spring back. Any particular reason for the added expansion?

I am looking for just a back. I prefer bail backs for ease of use. I don't really need 5x7 but I have an 8x10 camera that could easily be adapted to 5x7 and might give it a try at some point.

So you don't need the entire back... as in one that attaches directly to the camera... you just need the 5x7 frame with GG to attach to your own frame? How much is a nice one worth to you?

Richard Ritter made me a 5x7 bail back for my Zone VI 8x10 camera. First Richard acquired a 5x7 back, then modified it to fit the Zone VI 8x10.

As an added bonus I had Richard manufacture my Ritter 8x10 camera so it too could use the 5x7 bail back :-)

Just such a back sold on E-bay a few days ago. A friend of mine dropped out of the bidding at $450.00 - don't know how high it went.

I think that was a Linhof 5x7 back that was in Great Britain. It looked beautiful but too rich for my blood in this instance.

I had one listed here a few months ago, got no takers and I finally sold it on eBay. Look for those made by Cambo and Plaubel. They are hard to find separately, but when you do they are quite reasonably priced. For Plaubel backs, try German ebay.

For Plaubel backs, try German ebay.
But be careful, older Plaubel bail-backs are for metal single-plate-holders with so called "Million-fold".
