I have done a search on this site and also a general web search.
Is Photo Traveler Guides still in business? The links to their website are broken. I found a site that sells pdf versions of their guides but not sure it is the same business. Anyway any ideas on this?

Interesting. It appears their domain name and Website have changed (I link to their Mt. Rainier NP guide) and isn't working. Their new domain name is phototravel.com. There is an Earthlink Website linking to them, but those links don't work either.

Bob,
Thanks. Are the Photographing America Guides on the Photo Secrets pages rebranded Photo Traveler Guides?

Photosecrets is also selling Photograph America series publications, so it's likely more a reseller than rebranding. I have both of these for Mt. Rainier NP, and while good for some ideas, they're not complete or current, and incorrect with some information. But they're (relatively) cheap.

Photograph America is written solely by Robert Hitchman, and still in business. The Photo Travelers guides were written by a number of different authors. The writing style is quite different too.
Hi,
Since Photo Traveler has discontinued his publication, I'm looking to see if anyone out there has any issues they'd be willing to sell or know anywhere they might be purchased.
Currently, I'm looking for :
- Oregon (53 pages)
- Mount Rainier & Mount St Helens (26 pages)
- Olympic National Park & Washington's North Cascades (46 pages)
- Redwood & Lassen National Parks and Northern California (49 pages)
I could be also interested in :
- Channel Islands National Park & California's Central Coast (50 pages)
- Black Hills of South Dakota (37 pages)
Does anybody knows if the Photograph America newsletter about theses regions would be a good alternative ?
If you have any info, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks !

Photograph America covers the northwest pretty well, and I am using them for a trip there this summer- I have used others, and I like them. Go to their website and look at the list of issues- they describe what each issue covers. Available via download (pdf) or hard copy, or both.
Hi,
thanks for your answer.
when you say " I have used others", do you mean Photo Traveler Publication or not ?
(just to have a comparison between Photograph America and Photo Traveler Publication).
i think i will try to download one newsletter, 8$ is not so much ! ;)

Others in Hitchman's series- haven't been to NW yet, so can't comment on their accuracy/value for that area, but excellent for elsewhere that I've used them (SW). Never seen Photo Traveler, so I can't compare. Happy with Hitchman, so why look elsewhere- life's complicated enough :)

Although it's been a very long time since this post, it has taken me a long time to part with my copies of Photo Traveler Guide books. The missus says I have to clean out my bookshelves. Is there STILL interest in these great guides? (if not, there SHOULD be!) :)
