I have seen two different auctions (one in U.S. the other in Europe). Both seller claimed it is a schneider digitar, while on the barrel it says apo symmar. Anyone can tell me if there is a way to tell the difference? Do they have different coverage?

Digitar's will say Digitar on the barrel like this:

As far as I understand, "digital" lenses have better color correction and sharpness, but it looks like they may have less of an image circle (as sensors are smaller than 4x5 film.

Check out the specifications at schneider's site:

The Digitars are completely different from the Apo-Symmars. They're offered in short focal lengths and with small image circles, optimized for digital sensors.

Each type is clearly identified on the barrel. If a seller is calling a lens a Digitar but showing an Apo-Symmar, then either the description or the picture is wrong.

I know all that, but please see ebay 170408575929.

I'm very skeptical unless Schneider is willing to verify the story and the serial number.

The seller re-listed it as an Apo-Symmar.

It says:

"the cells were pulled from a Cambo Digital Cambonar-D which as Schneider Europe (the only real Schneider) will tell you, is a Digitar"

So perhaps it is a digitar in sheep's clothing. But do you want a digitar?

No, I dont want digitar, I just want an apo symmar. If that indeed is a digitar, that will raise a question next time when I see an apo symmar.

Any interest in a nearly mint 135mm Apo-Symmar?

The EX designation was only for the asian market.

At the beginning, I was confused with EX symmar, coz I have seen some Korean knock off Schneider lens some where. And I thought that was also a knock off.
