View Full Version : Is the 24" Rotatrim big enough?

Since recently acquiring a 12x20 F&S camera, I can see a future need to cut down 16x20 or 20x24 film/paper for use in the holders (when 12x20 isn't available).
When cutting along the 24" side, is the 24" Rotatrim big enough or is the next size up required to get a "running start" on the cut?
Thanks.

24" is fine. Just pay attention when cutting the paper in half, since 10x24 cameras are rare :o

24" is a bit tight to cut the long way. I wish I had gone with a 30" to cut 20x24 paper into 10x12.

Hmmm, I'm guilty of narrowmindedness, and not reading the OP's question well.

Larry: Couldn't you cut the 20" side first, then the 24"?

Chris: I shoot a Korona 12x20, and limit cuts on the Rotatrim to one sheet at a time. Why would you want to cut on the 24" side? As I mentioned, a fool such as I could wind up with 10x24 sheets. AIR, I had no great difficulty cutting the 24" side.

One at a time, the Rotatrim is sharp enough, but you have to be careful about having the sheet flat and square, and holding it well to avoid twisting. The 24" only has a 12" table, so there's no room to lock the supplied stop in place. I tape a piece of heavy paper to the table.

Bottom line: The 24" works for me, but if you've got the money and space, bigger is better.
