I have a classic lens in a #4 compound shutter. Is there any way to use it on a camera with a small (Wista) lens board?

Yes there is a way Richard Ritter www.lg4mat.net did one for me and it works great. I was able to keep all my lens on small boards and still be able to use them on my 8 x 10. The other thing he did for me was to put the lens on an extion so I was able to use a 300 mm lens on Wista and still have some bellows movement.

So long as the lens itself isn't physically wider than the lensboard, I would think you could do it by adding a spacer ring between the flange and the board, so the shutter will clear the lensboard frame when mounted to the camera.

This can be done by making an extension tube that threads into the lensboard and stands the shutter out a half inch or so from the lensboard. The tube is smaller in diameter than the outside of the intended mount flange. I have been able to fit #5 Ilex shutters to Technika type lensboards using this method. It costs $75.00 to $100.00 plus the price of the lensboard. SKG

Thanks for your answer Steve. It gives me some hope to be able to mount my Kodak/Nagel lenses (which are mounted on #1 Compur shutters) on Century lensboards. Possible? Thanks, Ken
