Its a shame Polaroid no longer makes instant 4x5 sheet films, and I'm sure many agree and even quietly hope they or someone else will bring back type 55.

Nevertheless, I have their 545 Pro Holder for their now defunct 4x5 films.

Are there any current uses for this Polaroid 545 Pro Holder - aside from using it with the Polaroid old stock being price gouged on the internet?

Wait for the new stock ;)
Seriously: the impossible project seems to make some progress, so I wouldn't give up *all* hopes yet...

The "impossible project" wants to revive integral film - that won't ever make 545es useful again...

The 545 can hold Quickloads (whether its planarity in that capacity is better or worse than that of original Readyload and Quickload holders is a matter of religious debates hereabouts), and Fuji still make some two or three films in Quickload.

Use it as a picture frame...

If you need to use it in future, take the picture out...

Makes a great door stop if you jam it underneath the door.

How about a wheel chock?

Or, a bread and cheese serving board?

Regift - that's cruel, Frank. You mean, like regift and give it to an unsupecting kid?

...Nah !...he means regift it to a fellow LF photographer that he knows is out of Polaroid film...

..I really like the "Whackamole" use !!

It is not nice to generalize; some people actually like fruitcake.

I pay less now for Polaroid on Ebay than it was in the shops when new- just buy it as you would have done...

I only shoot Polaroid, and lots of large format. The colours can be a bit off with expired stuff, but all part of the fun!

There is also a guy who is trying to make a 4x5 instant film with usable neg like 55...not linked to the impossible project - http://new55project.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-55-project-commences.html

Use it as a case to hold that DIY scanning digital back you were working on. All you need is duct tape, rubber bands, an old scanner and a Polaroid 545 holder right?

I think it is funny that suckers still buy these on eBay for $30-40 sometimes. Silly buyers, greedy sellers.

It would be nice if someone here could work out a way to make sleeves for this thing that could be loaded with paper negatives.

I like to keep my dozen or so film holders loaded with, wait for it.... film! Being able to carry a bunch of paper negatives along with the Polaroid I still have would be a great thing for impromptu works. After all, if I'm going to tote it, I might as well be able to use it to the max.

I LOVE IT!

Next Year's white elephant gift exchange in the office...

I can hear it now..."WTF is this thing???"

Thanks, Frank!
