View Full Version : Hello from New Zealand!
Hello chaps,
I'm new to the forum and not yet a LF shooter but plans are afoot in getting myself set up! I'm living in Wellington, New Zealand but am an ex-pat originally from the UK. Hoping to find some LF shooters around the local area to show me the ropes and where to source LF equipment from!
But hello for now anyway :)
Welly
Hey there welly! You'll find lots of good info and great people here..
(I'm the dude from #photogeeks btw)
Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. Lots of great photographers here who are more than willing to help when needed.
Mike
Welcome!!!
I'm not local to you (having sadly never been out of North America) but that is beside the point! Most folks here are always willing to lend a hand.
My wife was just asking me where I would visit if money was not an object and I immediately said, "New Zealand!!!" Impressive landscapes and - a bit off-topic - great wine!!!
I look forward to seeing some of you work as you discover the joy of LF photography!
Cheers,
J
Welcome to the forum! I've been down that way a few times -- impressive country and good people. It is a good place to settle down!

Welcome! Great to have you here.
Cheers, Steve
Hello again and thanks for the welcome!
I'm still yet to find some local LF shooters and a source of LF equipment here down under! I did see a Tachihara 4 x 5 on New Zealand's equivalent of ebay recently and so am hoping to get a deal on that. Only thing, doesn't come with a lens, lens board or film holders! Will have to check the forum here.
I've decided to hang up my digital gear before I lose the love for photography entirely and pick up this camera.
Anyway, just checking in again! Still no progress but we'll get there! Any other NZ shooters about??
Cheers!
Welly

Hi Welly, I am in Tokoroa, recently moved here from Palmerston North.
Have a look at KEH.com for camera systems, they have reasonable prices and reasonable prices for shipping too, they are a really good option for lenses especially, I just bought my first 4x5 lens from them recently.
There is another 4x5er from Wellington on here but Ill let him introduce himself.
Hey James,
Glad to see I'm not the only one here :) Will check out KEH on your suggestion although I've seen a few deals (I think they're deals anyway) on Ebay back home in the UK.

oh forgot to say you should try asking around at AIPA, or NZIPP (theres another, i forget) alot of commercial photographers have given up on their 5x4's and are shooting digital- that's how i got mine.
