I have this lens that came with the camera I just bought:

Schneider-Kreuznach
Symmar
1:5,6 / 210

And then in Green print:

1:12 / 370

What do the second set of aperture/focal length mean??

Also, don't LF lenses usually indicate a length, say, in inches so I can make my exposure adjustment?

thanx much!

It's a convertible lens. The lens with both cells intsalled is 210mm f/5.6 and you follow the (white?) aperture scale. With the front cell removed it's 370mm f/12 and you follow the green aperture scale. Fair warning... with the front cell removed these can be quite soft until you close down at least 3 f/stops.

Crazy, I'm gonna try it right now.

Any thoughts regarding my second question by any chance?

thanx for your response!!!

Old American and English lenses are in inches, the rest of the world uses mm.

When I got my first convertible lens in 1970 I thought that the rear element was the one you removed. It works pretty well too albeit it has a different focal length. :)

210mm = 8.25"

370mm = 14.5"

For future reference, 1" = 25.4mm

Duh. I didn't realize the non-metric length referred to focal length. I thought it was some other LF specific measurement.

I'm really not that dense. Seriously.
