Hi all,
I help maintain a Colex Color Processor and currently underneath the hood we have
alot of paint peeling and flaking, and it has been affecting prints.
We are going to be stripping and repainting it. However I am at a loss of what
type of paint should be used. Any answeres?
Thanks in advance.

I would take it down and have it powder coated. Otherwise if some one you know that paints cars may be able to help, unfortunately you are too far away for me to volunteer help. In my experience spray can paints will only last a short time in that environment.

Why not ask Colex? As far as I know they're still in business. I'd bet that they'd be willing to help a customer- albeit for a price.

After you strip, wipe the metal with water to neutralize the stripper, then acetone or alcohol to remove the water and any residue. A spray can of a good quality red oxide metal primer followed by several light coats of a good quality spray gloss enamel should do it. An upgrade to a spray epoxy like they sell for recoating appliances if you can find it will give better chemical resistance, just try not to put it on too thick, always several light coats is better than fewer thicker ones.
