View Full Version : Projector for 4x5 transparencies?

I know it's been discussed before, but what about a projector for 4x5 transparencies?

I've seen many suggestions for systems that I can't find, like Noblux.

I've seen some people suggest projecting through the camera; and someone said that that wouldn't be bright enough, even an enlarger process lens, and suggested a projection lens. I have a 75/1.1 Rodenstock TV Heligon lens....I wonder if that could work? But re projection through the camera, which way does it go? Where is the light-source? Behind the lens, and going from lens to transparency/slide? Or behind the slide and going through he lens?

Does anyone have any links to any websites explaining the optics of how these things work?

PS: Some sources I found on this:

Applied Optics--The Slide Projector (PDF) (http://www.hartnell.edu/physics/.../13appliedoptics--theslideprojector.pdf)
Cheap DIY Projector Screen (http://www.instructables.com/id/Cheap-DIY-100quot-Projector-Screen/)
InventGeek - DIY Home Projector (http://inventgeek.com/Projects/HomeTheater/Overview.aspx)

and another source:

Projection Theory (http://www.diyprojectorcompany.com/theory/lenses.php)

previous sources do not explain the need to focus the light from the source through the transparency (via a fresnel) so that all of the light goes through the projection lens.

I am about to post a noblux 4x5 on ebay. Probably won't be too many people bidding on it. Good luck.

It is item number 120474495600.

I am about to post a noblux 4x5 on ebay. Probably won't be too many people bidding on it. Good luck.

It is item number 120474495600.

Well, I have to relist the item.

The top bidder didn't respond to contact, and the second to top bidder didn't respond to the second chance "buy-it-now" offer. I added a buy-it-now price of $850 (that's what bidders pushed it up to last time), and it has no reserve (so you may get it for less). The item number is 120479975663.

I'm only shipping to US locations - for those who are interested. It's professionally packed, with the bulb and focusing lense removed. If you want insurance, the item needs to be double boxed - within a 2" foam lined box. The unit is thickly bubble wrapped in a box now - and should be fine.

The bidding was interesting the first time - the winning bidder (who didn't pay) bid $860, the second chance offer individual was $850, and there were three other bidders under that which were over $500. The noblux is a high-quality item, but I didn't know it still held so much value. It was very reassuring to see, I just wish the winning bidder hadn't welched on the deal.

Thanks for all the people who corresponded with me from these forums, and thank you for having these forums.

Hello lrudyk,

Is the Noblux projecter still available? If so, I would be very interested in buying this item!

Best regards
