Have they basically taken some technology from the bigger printers and added it to the 3800? Somehow "vivid magenta" doesn't excite me much.

If the gamut improvement 3800-3880 is found to be of the same order as that observed in the Luminous Landscape comparisons of 7800-7880 etc. then it will be minimal and not worth an upgrade. However, if the price differential is slight then it would be worthwhile, for new buyers, especially if the improved (?) printhead offers any substantial benefit.

I won't be trading in my clunker 3800!

They already have a 4990- it's a scanner though.
