View Full Version : Steinheil München Anastigmat Cassar 21,0/3.5
I have here the above lens, and was wondering what is known about it, as I can hardly find any information about it. It's a big piece of glass and looks fine. I could just shoot a few sheets, but it's way too big to fit the Bush Pressman I have! Even for the iris on my tailboard (Unknown maker) it is too big. I've bought some triplex plates, and will built a new front for the tailboard to mount the lens. Just curious until the job's done, like what kind of lens design is it? Tessar perhaps? Rapid Rectilinear?

I can tell you that it is not a Rapid Rectilinear, they are not anastigmatic.
Well, that's good to know. :) I still have a lot to learn on lens designs.

My copy of the Lens Collector's Vade Mecum says it is a three glass triplet.

Triplet. It was Steinheil's budget lens on many 35mm and 120 folding cameras. I've not heard of it in a large format variation. Good? Bad? Only testing will tell.
