Ok, so maybe we aren't quite frozen yet here in Ontario. So I guess "hello from the semi-warm but soon to be cold north" would be more accurate. My name is Jacques, I got into large format photography about a year ago with a Cambo SC 4x5, nikkor 150w F5.6 and all the other bobbles needed to make marvelously massive negatives. I don't have a scanner yet, so unfortunately I can't really share any current work. Although I do have a couple scans from the first contact prints I made a year ago while in school. I tend to be eclectic in my subjects, I love shooting still life's but I've also done some portraiture, landscapes and cityscapes (and a tiny bit of architectural). Eventually I want to move into making ambrotypes, but I'll wait until my camera technique and developement are more consistent first. Which is definitely being sped up by reading these forums. I've lurked for quite awhile and am consistently amazed at the wealth of knowledge floating around. Thank you all kindly for sharing such useful information, it's most definitely appreciated.

Jacques. great to have you lurking here. There's a splendid group of shooters here and we'll help you as much as we can.

Thank you both kindly for the warm welcome, it's nice to have fellow addicts who'll understand the overwhelming desire to hide under a cloth for indeterminate amounts of time.

It feels like I should have a notepad at my side while reading the forums as there's so much to absord.

Thank you both for more words of welcome and kind words regarding the shots (eventhough there's a lot of technical problems with them, for my first attempts it's not too bad).

I'm surprised to see someone from Guelph on the forums, that's where I'm from and where most of my family still lives. Talk about less then six degrees of seperation. It's good to know I'm not the only LF shooter in town, I haven't met any through the Guelph Photography Club.
