Scanning cirkut photos

I have a handful of very long cirkut (circut?) photographs of WW1 troops and encampments, etc and was wondering what the preferred method of digitizing was? I was thinking of either a scan or digitally shooting and then stitching the shots together. Would also appreciate suggestions of companies or individuals who can perform such a feat.

My vote is to scan this in sections on a flat-bed scanner, then stitch the sections together in Photoshop or one of the other stitching programs. You'll get the best quality-to-cost results here.

On the other hand if budget is not an issue, and you have the ability to engineer some of the items others have built systems to do this. I don't have the details but it includes using a scanning camera in conjunction with a motorized film transport system and a linear columnated light source. The film is transported between a scanning digital camera (Betterlight) and a light source. Slits are used to limit flare and control exposure.
