Size.

The 6x9 is made for rollfilmbacks or film holders for 6x9cm film, the 9x12 is made for film holders for 9x12cm or 4x5" film - or smaller with the correct adapter.

The front standard and lens boards are also of different sizes, so it's not possible to switch something on a 6x9 to use as 9x12, although there are adapters for using the smaller format (and lens boards) on the larger cameras.

Both cameras uses the front-standard of the Technika IV 4x5", so any lens mounted on a Technika lensbord from 47mm up to 210mm, also a Tele-Xenar 360mm, can be used with this cameras.

Only the backs are different. But with an adapter one can also use 2x3" accessories with the Color 9x12.
