That is a beautiful piece of equipment! Did you use mahogany or actual ebony wood?
I always figure that a finely-crafted piece of gear influences one to make better
crafted prints, even though we can't always have the best in everything.

Does a vacuum easel work as a contact frame if the glass is larger than the Paper+negative?

Jerold, Yes a vacuum easel will serve the same function regardless of size.

A contact frame has the advantage of letting one inspect printing-out processes during exposure without losing registration. For conventional contact printing, I prefer two heavy sheets of glass hinged along one edge with duct-tape to all other frames...

...but geez, that 16x20 ebony frame is pretty! :)
