Hey everybody,
I just bought a few packs of 4x5 Shanghai 100 ISO film, and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience processing this film. As for times, I couldn't find anything on Massive Development Chart for this film with HC-110 or D-76, my old standbys.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ari

Hi Ari. The film normally comes with instructions for D-76, which is what I use. Otherwise, you can find the developing instuctions in the ebay listing (try this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Shanghai-B-W-Negative-Camera-Sheet-Film-4x5-ISO-100_W0QQitemZ350226581688QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_2?hash=item518b2188b8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1|294%3A50).

For other developers I have used the information for Ilford FP4 with success.

Tim or Ari,

Since we are on the Shanghai film subject, need your advice.

I am about to open my very 1st box for loading - how does the film emulsion orientation goes ?

I have seen the TMX film example which has two notches on the top right-hand so as to have the emulsion facing me.

thnx,
Sean

10 min d76 1+1 (100 asa ) drum roller
7 min d76 1+1 (50 asa) drum roller
18 min d76 1+1 (400 asa) drum roller

20c (unicolor drum roller + print drum)

works for me

Hi Sean,

With the half-circle notch in the upper right corner, the emulsion is facing you. I think it is standard for all sheet film that the notch code for the brand is in the upper right corner.

I am an election specialist, and it was Anwar's by-election I was down that way for. Then my organization had a meeting in Penang last fall, so I went down for that as well.

Sean,
What Tim said; I had to look it up too.

BTW, I got excellent results using the following:
Shanghai 100 4x5 film
EI: anywhere from 50 to 100 ISO
8 minutes in HC-110 (dilution B)
@ 22C

This was in a Jobo tank, twelve sheets, with continuous rotation, and a 1 minute pre-soak.

I'll post some photos next week.
All the best,
Ari
