View Full Version : Where to buy 10x8" film?

Hi everyone,

I've finally gotten together all the parts required for my 10x8" view camera :D Only one essential ingredient remains - the film itself. I've been looking online for a while now and I can seem to find any place that sells a decent range. In the past I've used 5x4" Velvia and found it to be quite nice. I'm also hoping to use the Provia and Astia ranges where lower levels of saturation are required. I've heard that Astia is very difficult to get. I'm wondering is there any online store that would sell these films in 10x8" sizes?

In the U.S. Freestyle Photo has been very supportive of large format photography, and carries a lot of interesting film brands. In the EU, Fotoimpex and Robert White, seem to have the most interest in large format products by mail order.

It's true Gem, but if you hold your film holders in your right hand and load them with the film kept in your left hand you can easily upload the needed 10x8 format. Works like a charm. Just be careful at the notches...

No, it's just the European holder - if you turn it 180° and you sit at the opposite side you can then use whatever hand - but that is more complicated, I wouldn't recommend it.

I would suggest contacting a U.K.-based retailer such as Robert White. They already carry some 8x10 films and may be able to order the remaining films you need.

on the notches and such we may have to ask him if he has a right handed or a left handed plate. Never know...:D

I've used them alot. In 8x10 your choices are yellow box, ilford, rollei, efke and fomapan.
