Greetings people!

I need help )))

I have the 5x7 camera from my great grandfather, and I'm curious what model is it exactly, because there is no labels on it, except on the lens but i know that this lens not original, "original" lens was zeiss and it was stolen many many years ago.

Please, may be some one could recognize my camera (http://www.flickr.com/photos/qshar/3665767702/).

And also can anyone recommend my some good and sharp lens which I can get for this camera on ebay (for ex.)

Labels on lens which i have:
Doppel Anastigmat koelar f:6.8 180mm K. Lorenz & Co.
with D.R.P. Compound D.R.G.M. Shutter

Thank you.

Thank you.

I saw quite similar camera (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showpost.php?p=400493&postcount=261) (right one) from Janko Belaj.
But I still don't know what is it.

for me it looks like an old japanese camera, not 5x7 but half plate, so you cannot use it with standard film holders, you need plate holders with an adapter to hold the film flat.

gshar: could you measure the ground glass for us, please ?
Than we know at least the size of the camera.

Thanks,
Peter

I'm still digging what it could be, Janko Belaj also don't know brand name. But he has 8x10" camera, mine is 5x7". It's good. i'm not alone )))) Some people suppose that his camera is japanese clone of "english type". Martin, you also suppose that but I don't think that I have japanese camera, Japan is to far from Moscow and Petrograd (St. Petersburg) were my great grandfather lived. Probably it's form German or Britain or may be russian copy but it's very high quality build.

Peter, as I say above it's the 5x7 inch (13x18 cm) camera, the ground glass is 13x18 cm (13x17,7), and i have 2 boxes of exposed (and developed) glass plates which is the same size.

to Martin
I'm newbie to LF photography and I don't know what is "standard film holders" but i have 3 original double side glass plate holders, which I think I would try to use with 5x7 film.

PS
Sorry for my English ).
Andrew.

There were literally dozens of camera makers who made field cameras similar to the one you have. Even when the camera has a name plate, it is often not possible to find out much about the camera,, such as when it was made.

You might try looking at the cameras at http://www.woodandbrass.co.uk/categories.php?camera_type=2. Perhaps the owner of that site can help you identify your camera.
