Hello,

anyone using the Westcott Spiderlite TD5 fluorescent lamphead..? Pro's and con's.?
does it come with bulbs ?
will any 50 watt and 20 watt fluorescent bulb work..?
Has anyone made their own custom version and if so the pro's and con's..

I understand that If you use 4- 50watt lamps and 1- 20 watt(center)lamp that generates 900 watts if used with the Spiderlite lampbase. I suppose the light must reflect off the chrome base to get to 900 watts from 220 watts of bulbs.?

thx

They're probably talking about the incandescent equivalent to fluorescents. I was thinking about the Spiderlite TD5, but bought a Fotodiox Cool Light C-1600 instead and I'm getting a second one. They take up to 16 fluorescent bulbs and can also be fitted with a softbox. You can get them for $115 shipped on eBay, so they're a lot cheaper than Spiderlites.
