Hi all,

In a nude photography book I have I saw some lovely silvery skin tones on a model, which I had noticed in the text had oil applied to the model.

Dont know the rules on linking nudes.. so I'll just say the shot was Ashely On The Box at Miahus by Sylvie Blum if you just google image search Sylvie Blum the first whole page is full of similar shots in terms of the skin tone.

I've never used oil before, I'd like to ask what kind of oil and how it should be applied and generously or sparse?

I'd like try a similar look on skin, but dont want to stuff up my next shoot and embarass myself with bad images in a situation like that :)

Just let the model have a bottle of baby oil, start with just a bit and they can always add more.

Bring something for them to clean up with afterwards. Paper towels, etc.

Sylvie has great work but sometimes it can be a bit too low contrast to my taste -- so I'm surprised she would use oil but I haven't seen the shot you refer to.

It doesn't take much, she may just be Southern European/Hispanic and that could be her normal skin texture.

The men's magazines of my misspent youth had it dripping off!

This same pic is in the book I have, and there is a mua applying oil to her (including her face), and even says so in the text :)

There's also a colour image of her like a "behind the scenes" kind of thing.. might scan it
