I asked the people at Photo Eye and several other online booksellers who specialize in rare photo books. In the end I sold the books I had on eBay, and one of the buyers has become a friend who has purchased several others from me. eBay seems to deliver maximum exposure and higher prices, as the consignment sellers take an even higher percentage and the prices have been down since their peak at 2007. But I did sell three books for $2000, at about 66% of their peak price.

If anyone is interested in a worn Emmett Gowin "Petra" give me a jingle.

I use amazon.com. The final fee is higher than ebay (15%) but the listings are permanent and free.
