I'm not sure if "presentation albums" is the right term but I'm looking for something really nice looking in which to put about 25 8 1/2 x 11 photographs intended as a gift for family members, something they might put on a coffee table and look at occasionally or show to others. Expense isn't a concern. I particularly don't want something that covers the photographs with acetate or a similar "protective" material like so many typical photograph albums have. Can anyone suggest a good source for something like this?

Brian,
I like the "Folio Folders" from Light Impressions for your described purpose:

They hold loose prints which I generally print with about a 1/2" border, and add a sheet of Apollo paper.

How about good ol' scrapbook-style photo albums? I've thought about them as a gift idea. And if money is no object, Googling "wedding album" turns up (semi-)custom album/book builders...some real fancy stuff. Many may be fixed in size and number of pages, but you can find "modular" ones like this (http://www.weddingalbumsandmore.com/products.php). I'm sure there's more.

Brian,

Funny. I've been looking for the same think on-and-off for the past month. I shoot 4x5 but wanted a leather album for 8x10 prints. For friends, family, etc...

I like TAP Superior albums. Very well made. Priced around $ 30- 50 depending on size.
They are bound book style, with peel & stick (permanently) adhesive pages.
Avail. in sizes, wallet thru 10x10, and 20 or 30 print capacity.
Smooth leather cover in black, brown, & now some colors.
I use 'em for wedding albums & parent books.

Pina Zangaro (http://www.pzdirect.com/index.html) may be another interesting option.

White wedding Albums are kind of cheesy haha.

Pratt (http://www.pfile.com/prod_detail_list/PRAT/?r=G-377&gclid=COyM7uPhm6ICFQuB5QodEjPDzA) makes simple leather (and faux) traditional looking portfolio books. http://www.pinazangaro.com/ (try http://www.pzdirect.com/) and http://www.lost-luggage.com/make more contemporary ones.

http://www.houseofportfolios.com/ and Brewer Cantemelo (http://www.brewer-cantelmo.com/) are the source for custom leather portfolios.

And places like http://www.booksmartstudio.com/ and even Blurb will make you bound books.

Thanks Frank. I tried Blurb but had problems downloading the software. Maybe I'll try again now that I have a newer computer.
